Boman Irani’s ‘The Mehta Boys’ Wins Best Film At Chicago South Asian Fest

CHICAGO, IL – Boman Irani’s directorial debut, The Mehta Boys, has made a strong impression, winning the prestigious Best Feature Film award at the 15th Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF) following its world premiere on opening night, September 20. This milestone marks a significant achievement in Irani’s career, as he not only directed but also acted, wrote, and produced the film.
Reflecting on the honor, an elated Irani shared, “Winning at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival for The Mehta Boys feels like a dream come true! Having my family and the cast here made it a true celebration. To everyone who poured their heart and soul into this film but couldn’t be here with us tonight—this one’s for you!” He emphasized the collaborative effort behind the project and expressed deep gratitude for his team.
The Mehta Boys explores the emotional journey of a father and son, whose 48 hours together lead to an exploration of their complex relationship. Produced by Irani Movietone LLP and Chalkboard Entertainment LLP, the film features a stellar cast including Avinash Tiwary, Shreya Chaudhry, and Puja Sarup who were all in Chicago.
The movie is set to premiere on Prime Video worldwide.
