Gautam Gambhir Laughs At Himself In Viral Meme

NEW DELHI-India head coach Gautam Gambhir has taken a light-hearted dig at his own serious image, sharing a collection of memes on social media that revolve around his rarely seen smile.

Long regarded as one of cricket’s most intense personalities, Gambhir has often been teased by former India teammates-turned-commentators for his stern expression during matches. Instead of brushing aside the jokes, the former opener embraced them with a humorous Instagram post.

Sharing a carousel of memes, Gambhir captioned it, “Jab desh ka sabse Gambhir insaan muskura de” (“When the country’s most serious person smiles”).

The post opens with a photograph of Gambhir smiling before moving on to a series of memes. Among them is a widely shared IShowSpeed meme template, while another jokes about men finding time in their busy schedules for someone they love, featuring Gambhir’s smiling face. The post marked an unusual departure from the intense public image he has carried for years on and around the cricket field.

Away from social media, Gambhir was with the Indian team during its June-July tour of the UK. The campaign saw India lose the T20I series 0-2 to Ireland, followed by a 0-4 defeat against England in the T20Is and a 1-2 loss in the ODI series to the Three Lions.

He did not travel with the squad for the subsequent T20I series in Zimbabwe, where India completed a 3-0 sweep under Shreyas Iyer, giving the batter his maiden T20I series victory as captain.

Gambhir is set to rejoin the team for India’s two-Test tour of Sri Lanka beginning August 15. The opening Test will be played in Galle from August 15 to 19, while Colombo will host the second Test starting August 23. (With ANI Inputs)
