WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican Congressman Rich McCormick will serve as the new GOP co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans in the U.S. House of Representatives, joining Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna in leading the bipartisan group in the new Congress.

McCormick replaces Rep. Michael Waltz, who is stepping down after being tapped by former President Donald Trump to serve as national security adviser.

The caucus, which has grown to a record 145 members in the 118th Congress, will continue under Khanna’s leadership, with Representatives Andy Barr and Marc Veasey remaining as vice co-chairs. Former caucus chair Rep. Brad Sherman will continue to serve as chair emeritus.

“A strong partnership with India is critical for our economy and national security. It is an honor to continue serving as co-chair of the India Caucus and to welcome Rep. Rich McCormick as the caucus’s new co-chair,” said Khanna. “Rep. McCormick has supported policies to strengthen the U.S.-India relationship, and I look forward to working with him.”

McCormick, who represents Georgia’s 7th Congressional District, emphasized his commitment to strengthening ties between the U.S. and India, particularly given the contributions of the Indian American community in his district.

“I have the great privilege of serving many hard-working Indian Americans in my district and will continue to strengthen our relationship with India,” said McCormick. “The dedication, innovation, and contributions of this diaspora enrich our community and strengthen the bonds between our two nations. Together, let’s continue to champion the values of opportunity and collaboration that define both America and India.”
