Dems Pour In $50 Mln Hours After Biden Endorsement Of Kamala

WASHINGTON, DC (REUTERS) – Vice President Kamala Harris has raised $49.6 million for her presidential campaign in less than a day after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed her as the Democratic nominee, a campaign spokesperson for Biden said on July 22.

“Since the president endorsed Vice President Harris yesterday afternoon, everyday Americans have given $49.6 million in grassroots donations to her campaign,” the spokesperson said, referring to ordinary citizens.

Democrats poured in the money instantly. The e-donation platform ActBlue said the amount from small donors marks “the biggest fundraising day of the 2024 cycle”.

The surge in donations in the last 24 hours is the single biggest for online contributions to Democrats since 2020, according to the New York Times, when ActBlue raised $73.5m after the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

  • Totally fake news this. That money was transferred as a lumpsum from Biden’s campaign fund to Kamala’s. Kamala raised just $1.5m from individual donors. This relinquishment by Biden happened just after the deadline to report campaign contributions to date and the next report date will be after the elections. So no one will know how much Kamala will actually raise until after the voting is done.
    Know the facts.
