New Jersey Celebrates Guru Nanak 555th Birth Anniversary

NEWARK, NJ – Guru Nanak’s 555th Birth Anniversary was celebrated on November 9 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center here, under the theme “Oneness: A Light for Humanity.”
The event, which honored the teachings of Guru Nanak on unity, equality, and love for humanity, was organized by the nonprofit Let’s Share a Meal. The organization, which has been serving meals to homeless shelters, elderly homes, and soup kitchens since 2012, emphasized the spirit of Langar, the community kitchen, which aims to provide food and assistance to those in need.
During the celebration, celebrity chef Vikas Khanna was honored by hotelier Sant Chatwal for his contributions to the community. Chatwal, along with Giani Ranjit Singh, the Head Granthi of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, and Khanna, spoke at the event, commending Onkar Singh, the trustee and chair of the Guru Nanak 555th Birth Anniversary Celebration, and his team for organizing the successful gathering.
The event featured Guruvani singing hymns in classical style, with renowned vocalist Harshdeep Kaur among the performers. A group of young instrumentalists also took part, adding to the spiritual atmosphere.
The celebration attracted an enthusiastic and diverse audience, reflecting Guru Nanak’s message of unity across all communities, a press statement said.
