Villanova University Names Tej Patel Chief Information Officer

VILLANOVA, PA – Villanova University has announced the appointment of Tej Patel as Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer effective September 9. This appointment follows a comprehensive national search, the university said.

“The importance of a strong IT strategy and infrastructure on university campuses cannot be overstated. I am delighted to have someone with Tej’s experience and vision leading our IT department,” said University President the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD.

As Vice President for Information Technology and CIO, Patel will oversee the University’s technology strategy, supporting teaching, learning, research, operations, and the student experience. His responsibilities include coordinating IT services, engaging with stakeholders to identify technological needs, and leveraging technology to improve service experiences.

Patel will also focus on expanding the use of technology in teaching and research, completing the transition to a new learning management system, upgrading classroom technology, and enhancing research computing capabilities.

Patel joins Villanova from Stevens Institute of Technology, where he served as Vice President and CIO. Previously, he held IT leadership roles at Penn Nursing and the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Montclair State University and a Wharton Executive Global C-Suite Diploma from the University of Pennsylvania.
