Eric Garcetti Arrives In A Pink Auto At Embassy In Delhi
NEW DELHI (ANI) – The pink auto has again taken the route of the US Embassy in India and this time, dropped off America’s new Ambassador Eric Garcetti, who is all set to take over as the new envoy.
“Excitement fills the air as we welcome Ambassador-Designate Eric Garcetti to India! We are excited to personally greet him and confident the U.S.-India partnership will advance through his leadership. #USIndiaTogether,” the US Embassy in India tweeted.
Garcetti came in a “pink auto”, and met all the members of the Embassy, according to the video shared by US Embassy in India on its official Twitter account. On Garcetti’s arrival in India, Indian Embassy in the US tweeted, “Namaste, Ambassador-Designate Eric Garcetti! We’re thrilled to welcome you to #IncredibleIndia and work with you to build even stronger ties between our two great nations.”
India and the US recently launched the initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET), a bilateral defence industrial cooperation roadmap that will focus on joint development and production of military hardware. The two sides have also expanded cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and within the framework of the Quad, and the US has been looking to India to act as a counter-balance against the rise of China.
The Senate, in March, confirmed the former mayor of Los Angeles, Eris Garcetti, to be the US ambassador to India.
Garcetti won the mandate by a vote of 52 to 42, a major victory for US President Joe Biden as well, who stuck by his political ally in the face of the allegations stemming from his term as Mayor of Los Angeles.

Garcetti is a Rhode Scholar with vast public service experience. As the mayor of the second largest city (Los Angeles) in the U.S.A. for nine years he led with creativity and political courage to accomplishment great results. Among many notable results he shepherded the largest water recycling system allowing for a population of 10 million people to recycle up to 40 percent of all the water in use. I have little doubt he will use his diplomatic and managerial skills to strengthen our bilateral relationship. The bilateral relationship between India and the U.S. is important for both countries and the world and we will now have a highly qualified person representing President Biden in New Delhi.
