Jaswant Dev Shrestha’s Travel Series In Race For Emmy Noms

HOLLYWOOD, CA- Creative Heights Entertainment‘s “On a Quest: With Jaswant Exploring Portugal,” created by Emmy winner Jaswant Dev Shrestha, is in the race for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards.
The series is contending in the category of Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series, as well as four Creative Arts categories: Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program, Outstanding Writing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program, Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program, and Outstanding Picture Editing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program.
Nepal-born Shrestha writes, directs, and stars in a unique travel series told from a filmmaker’s perspective.
Consisting of six episodes, Jaswant Dev Shrestha explores various parts of Portugal to document untold stories, history, hidden wonders, arts, culture, food, people, and places.
Shrestha’s first Emmy win came with the series “Festivals,” a five-part series on Nepal. The episode “Festival of Saraswati Puja” earned him an award at Pacific Southwest Emmy Awards, making him the first Emmy winner from Nepal.
Reflecting on his journey, he told Deadline, that the inspiration goes a long way back from the time he was doing travel shows back home in Nepal. “I was a big fan of the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama. I was very fascinated by him. He was exploring and finding places, and I was also traveling and learning about different cultures,” he said.
