NEW DELHI (ANI)– Veteran actor Kamal Haasan recently offered insights into his childhood and journey to superstardom during a press interaction in Delhi for his upcoming film, Thug Life.

Having entered the entertainment industry at the age of six, Haasan often prompts curiosity about his early life. He described himself as a “happy child,” like a “parrot, not caged,” who learned by repetition. He considers himself “lucky” to have achieved stardom, acknowledging the many talented children he encountered during his early theatre days. “It’s only after 7 when I joined the theatre and all that, I realized that so many intelligent children, and I’ve been lucky to have become a star. That’s when I actually started learning outside of school,” he shared.

Haasan also emphasized his continuous evolution, stating that he is not the same person filmmaker Mani Ratnam met during the making of Nayakan. “We both evolved and changed for the good. That’s why I said retaining sensibilities and changing,” he added.

Addressing reports regarding Thug Life‘s OTT release, Haasan revealed that the team requested an eight-week gap between the theatrical and streaming release dates. He expressed hope that this strategy would benefit both film companies and OTT platforms, potentially easing the path for other movies as well.

Co-written by Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, Thug Life is slated for a June 5 theatrical release. The film features a stellar cast including Trisha Krishnan, Sanya Malhotra, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, and Rohit Saraf.
