Visa Revocations For Foreigners Celebrating Kirk’s Killing

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the United States has begun revoking the visas of foreigners who are celebrating the assassination of right-wing political commentator Charlie Kirk. In a firm message, Rubio stated, “America will not host foreigners who celebrate the death of our fellow citizens.”

In an interview with Fox News, Rubio said that the U.S. should not be providing visas to individuals who intend to enter the country and “celebrate the murder, the execution, the assassination of a political figure.” He added that for those already in the country, their visas should be revoked.

The Secretary of State also posted a video of his remarks on his X handle, writing, “If you are here on a visa and cheering on the public assassination of a political figure, prepare to be deported. You are not welcome in this country.”

The State Department’s action follows comments from other senior officials. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau posted on X that he was “disgusted” to see individuals on social media “praising, rationalizing, or making light of the event.” He said these reactions on social media prompted him to direct consular officials to take “appropriate action” and asked the public to bring such comments by foreigners to his attention.

Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin has also joined the call for visa cancellations for those who glorify the killings of Americans. Rubio defended the policy, stating that the U.S. should not admit people who engage in “negative and destructive behavior.” He confirmed on X that visa revocations have already commenced and further reviews are expected as part of a broader crackdown following Kirk’s assassination.
