WASHINGTON, DC – Citing the recent India-US trade deal, which he said is “in the final stages of detailing,” External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on February 5 said there is “strong momentum” in the growing engagement between New Delhi and Washington.

Jaishankar made the remarks as he concluded his visit to the United States, during which he also participated in the Critical Minerals Ministerial convened by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on February 4.

“The historic India-US trade deal is in the final stages of detailing and will be completed very soon. It opens a new phase in our bilateral ties, with vast possibilities for the relationship,” Jaishankar said. “Our critical mineral cooperation is advancing rapidly. Expect engagement on strategic issues, defense, and energy in the coming days. Overall, a strong momentum is evident.”

During his visit, the External Affairs Minister also met senior members of the US administration, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The meetings focused on a wide range of issues related to the India-US strategic and economic partnership. (IANS)
