A Musician And Poet Are Immortal: Bachchan On S. D. Burman

MUMBAI – During a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, Amitabh Bachchan was asked about his memories of working on the 1973 film Abhimaan. A contestant specifically mentioned the film’s iconic song, “Tere Mere Milan Ki Yeh Raina,” prompting Bachchan to reflect on the experience.

He recalled how beautiful the writing was and how melodiously the music, composed by S. D. Burman, was arranged. Bachchan shared a special memory of being in Burman’s music room. Burman would sing the songs himself for the producers, directors, and actors.

Bachchan described these moments as unforgettable. He felt it was a great experience to simply sit and “jam” with Burman, witnessing his genius firsthand. The actor concluded by reflecting on how musicians and poets are immortal, stating, “they may leave the world, but their ideas and their works continue to inspire people across generations.”
