Actor Vijay Raaz Acquitted In Sexual Harassment Case

MUMBAI (ANI)- Actor Vijay Raaz has been acquitted of sexual harassment and stalking charges filed by a colleague during the 2020 filming of “Sherni.” The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Gondia cited a lack of conclusive evidence and the prosecution’s failure to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt in its verdict.

The allegations stemmed from incidents reported in October 2020, where a female crew member accused Raaz of inappropriate behavior, including unwelcome physical contact and suggestive remarks at their hotel and filming locations. An FIR was filed, and Raaz was briefly arrested and released on bail.

During the trial, CCTV footage and witness testimonies were presented, but the court found them insufficient to support the claims. Key witnesses did not directly observe the alleged incidents, and the main complainant passed away before testifying.

The court declared Raaz not guilty, leading to the cancellation of his bail bond and the return of his surety. His lawyer stated that Raaz faced professional repercussions due to the accusations. The court has directed him to furnish a surety bond for six months pending any potential appeal.
