MUMBAI – Akshay Kumar has finally addressed the controversy involving his longtime co-star Paresh Rawal and the fallout over Hera Pheri 3, stating that the issue “will be handled by the court.”
The actor was responding to questions about a reported ₹25 crore lawsuit filed by his production house, Cape of Good Films, against Rawal for exiting the film after accepting a ₹11 lakh signing amount and reportedly beginning initial work on the project. The production team claims his sudden departure led to financial and creative setbacks.
While Kumar didn’t delve into the legal specifics, he made it clear that he would not tolerate any disrespect toward Rawal, especially after some online users called the veteran actor “foolish” for stepping away. “Let me first tell you that using a word like ‘foolish’ for my co-star is something I won’t appreciate,” he said. “It is not right. I have worked with him for the last 32 years. We are very good friends. He is a great actor. I really admire him.”
In response, Paresh Rawal’s legal team argued there was no finalized script, no agreement, and no binding commitment. They stated that Rawal returned the signing amount with interest and emphasized that the decision to exit the project was professional, not personal.
Despite the tensions, both actors appear committed to maintaining their long-standing friendship. While the matter plays out legally, Kumar’s remarks underline a desire to keep personal respect intact—even in the face of professional disagreements.
