Ambassador Kwatra Leads Tributes For Gandhi Jayanti

WASHINGTON DC – -Ambassador Shri Vinay Kwatra, accompanied by Embassy officials, paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi here on October 2, commemorating the anniversary of the Father of the Nation’s birth.
The formal tribute followed a special event held on September 30, which honored Gandhi’s lasting legacy and engaged members of the Indian diaspora, students, professionals, and friends of India.

The celebration featured an address by Srimati Karuna, Director of the Gandhi Memorial Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Her talk, titled “Gandhi’s life and Message,” covered anecdotes from his life, his key inspirations, and his vision for global peace.
The program concluded with musical performances by young Indian artists, Anusha Manjunath and Vasundhara Raturi, who are differently abled. They rendered bhajans and songs that were known to be favorites of Gandhi.
