An Indian student in the United States is fighting for his life after a car accident
New York (IANS) An Indian student is fighting for her life due to a car accident in which she was traveling. Due to sleet on the road near the US state of Arkansa the car went out of control.
Sree Likitha Pinnam, a computer science student at Wichita State University in Kansas, was driving with her friends on the night of January 30 when the accident occurred on a highway near Bentonville, Arkansas.
“The car flipped twice, and her head was severely injured. She became unconscious,” according to a GoFundMe Page set up for Pinnam by her sister.
A driver noticed Pinnam and her friends, who suffered minor injuries.
Pinnam was admitted to the emergency room at Mercy Hospital in Northwest Arkansas after he brought them there.
The GoFundMe page states that Pinnam has been identified as having a very serious traumatic brain injury, which includes diffuse axonal injury, anoxic brain injury, and several tiny brain bleeds.
Doctors who treat Pinnam stated that her condition is critical and that she is on a ventilator, and that she has not responded to treatment in the last few days.
“Doctors are unable to predict when she will be discharged, because her condition depends on her response, but they estimate it could take months or even years to recover,” according to the fundraising page, which is asking for donations to help Pinnam with her treatment.
So far, $99,659 of the $150,000 goal has been raised.
Authorities cited a fatal crash in Arkansas in icy conditions across the southern plains.

It’s incredibly sad to know about this accident. Pray for Likitha to recover fully and be normal again.

I see many Indians getting injured, maimed, or killed without any insurance . Having insurance should be of the highest priority because nothing here in US is free. We live in an environment where a chance of accidents are high. If you are working and have a family, get disability insurance. Before you even think about getting married, have life insurance (there is NY Life where many agents are Indians). If you drive a car, have auto insurance. Please educate the incoming Indians about need for insurance, include medical and dental. As things become more and more expensive and people budgets get tight, the Gofundme will not collect much. Moreover, as your time living in US deepens, your obligations will increase and you will become detached from GoFundMe site.
