AR Rahman Was Going To Collaborate On Album With Zakir Hussain
MUMBAI (ANI) – The death of legendary tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain has left the nation in shock, with people from all walks of life mourning his loss and offering heartfelt condolences to his family.
Music composer A.R. Rahmanshared a series of pictures with Zakir Hussain on Instagram, accompanied by flowers and prayer emojis to express his respect and grief.
Describing the loss as “immeasurable,” Rahman reflected on the inspiration Zakir Hussain provided to millions worldwide in another post.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Zakir Bhai was an inspiration, a towering personality who elevated the tabla to global acclaim. His loss is immeasurable for all of us,” Rahman wrote.
Rahman also revealed that they had been planning to work on an album together. “I regret not being able to collaborate with him as much as we did decades ago, though we had planned an album together. You shall be truly missed. May his family and his countless students worldwide find the strength to bear this immense loss. #ZakirHussain,” he added.
Hussain, a towering figure in Indian classical music and one of the world’s most renowned percussionists, had been battling idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a chronic lung disease. He passed away in San Francisco, leaving behind a rich legacy and an indelible mark on global music.
