BHUBANESWAR – In his philanthropic capacity, Bill Gates undertook a significant visit to Maa Mangala Basti here, emphasizing his dedication to global development. Accompanied by key officials, Gates delved into the intricacies of local government schemes, underscoring his foundation’s commitment to supporting regional development initiatives.
Gates’s visit does not appear to be a tour for a photo op. Local media reports said he engaged with the local community and slum dwellers and wanted to know what kind of projects would have a tangible impact on their lives. Bureaucrats provided insights into and showcased potential areas for collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
During his visit, Gates included stops at Krushi Bhawan and held a meeting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. By focusing on initiatives designed to enhance urban living conditions and empower communities, Gates is aligning his foundation’s objectives with local needs, establishing a precedent for future philanthropic endeavors in the region, the media said.

Good time to arrest Gates and prosecute him for his victims of clinical trials.
The man is in India to make money and not to help. There are enough homeless and hungry in a 100 mile radius of his home that need help. There is no reason for him to visit all the way to India.
I hope the US Govt. gets smart and changes the tax laws.

You are dead wrong. All foreign companies are in India to make money. But, how many do what Mr. Gates is doing? You are, however, on spot on the issue of charitable donations after tax. It is not FAIR to give to charity after paying tax. It hurts the middle class. It should be changed.
