
Derek Fisher, Gary Payton Headline Star-Studded NBA House In Mumbai
MUMBAI (IANS)- Five-time NBA champion Derek Fisher and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Gary Payton were among the key figures at the first-ever NBA House event held in India. The two-day program took place on June 7–8, at Mumbai’s Dome, SVP Stadium, and was organized alongside the 2025 NBA Finals.
Fisher and Payton participated in meet-and-greet sessions, courtside coaching, and panel discussions focused on the relationship between basketball, style, and culture.
A featured event was the 3v3 Celebrity Game, in which Fisher and Payton coached opposing teams made up of Indian personalities including Badshah, Disha Patani, Rannvijaay Singha, and Varun Sood. Team Payton won the match.
The event also included live music. Performers on June 7 included Hanumankind & Friends (featuring Parimal Shais and Kalmi), Bombay Mami, and Stick No Bills. On June 8, the lineup featured Baby J B2B Tye Turner, Benga, and Shioriy Bradshaw.
Fashion and visual culture were part of the programming. A Streetwear Showcase highlighted basketball-related style and design.
Other scheduled activities included on-court challenges and contests for fans, as well as performances by the Sacramento Kings mascot Slamson, the Kings Dancers, and the Kings’ dunk team. On June 8, a Dunk Contest judged by Fisher and Payton was held. Billa Nathan Abraham from Hyderabad was selected as the winner.
NBA House was organized as a fan engagement initiative to mark the NBA Finals.
