Former NY Covid Czar Jay Varma Loses Job For Hosting Drug, Sex Parties

NEW YORK, NY – Dr. Jay Varma, New York City’s former Covid czar, has been fired by the board of SIGA Technologies for allegedly attending prohibited gatherings during the height of the pandemic. The decision to terminate Varma, who served as the company’s executive vice president and chief medical officer, was filed on September 23 with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Varma, an epidemiologist and a Harvard and UC San Diego School of Medicine graduate, had played a pivotal role in shaping New York City’s strict Covid-19 safety measures during his tenure as senior public health adviser under former Mayor Bill de Blasio. His policies gained national attention, including the highly publicized banning of Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving from playing basketball due to his refusal to get vaccinated.
The ex-Covid czar was fired from his position about a week after he inadvertently admitted to him and his wife hosting drug-ridden sex parties and attending secret raves during quarantine in 2020, the Mirror reported.
The controversy surrounding Varma surfaced after conservative podcaster Steven Crowder released secretly recorded footage of Varma discussing his involvement in two gatherings. According to the footage, Varma attended a “sex party” with over ten people in 2020 and a dance party in 2021 with more than 200 attendees.
Varma initially defended himself in a statement, asserting that the videos were “spliced, diced, and taken out of context,” though he did not dispute their authenticity.
The release of the footage was orchestrated by Crowder, a controversial figure known for his far-right commentary. Crowder has faced multiple suspensions and demonetizations from platforms like YouTube for spreading false information and violating policies on harassment and cyberbullying.
