GOPIO Launches Dallas Chapter In North Texas

DALLAS, TX-The Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) has launched its Dallas-Fort Worth chapter at an inauguration ceremony held at Bhartiya Nivas, with the participation of diplomatic representatives, elected officials, and community leaders.

The event was attended by members of the community in North Texas, along with local political representatives, including Frisco Councilman Burt Thakur and assembly candidate Sanjay Narayan, who addressed the gathering.

The launch comes amid the growth of the Indian community in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. Local chapter leaders, including President Muthu Mudaliar and Joint Treasurer Bharat Bhakta, spoke about the need for a platform to bring together members of the community.

Consul General of India in Houston, D.C. Manjunath attended as chief guest and delivered the keynote address. He described the Dallas chapter as a “vital bridge connecting local communities with global initiatives” and highlighted the role of the Indian diaspora in strengthening India–U.S. relations.

The inauguration included a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by GOPIO International Chairman Dr. Thomas Abraham and International President Prakash Shah. Abraham spoke about the organization’s work, while Shah addressed attendees on its activities. Community leader Sam Kannappan was honored during the event.

Following the inauguration, the chapter held a meeting with small and medium business owners and professionals to discuss the formation of a Dallas chapter of the GOPIO Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
