India Hosting Climate-Resilience Conference With Harvard Institutes

NEW DELHI – India is hosting a pivotal four-day conference, India 2047: Building a Climate-Resilient Future, from March 19 -March 22, here. The conference, organized by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in collaboration with two Harvard University institutes, aims to advance the country’s climate resilience strategies as it prepares to celebrate its centenary of independence in 2047.

The event is being held in partnership with The Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute and The Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability at Harvard University.

 Its primary goal is to enhance India’s approach to climate adaptation by integrating scientific research, policy discussions, and actionable solutions. With the global climate crisis posing increasing risks, the conference will focus on practical strategies to safeguard India’s environment, economy, and people for future generations.

The discussions are expected to lead to tangible outcomes, including research papers, technical documents, and policy briefs that will contribute to the global efforts on climate adaptation. The insights and recommendations generated from the conference will help inform the formulation of India’s National Adaptation Plan, ensuring it is based on scientific evidence and aligned with the nation’s broader development objectives.
