India Introduces Ayush Visa For Treatment Under Indian Systems Of Medicine

NEW DELHI (ANI) – In a move aimed at promoting India as a destination for medical value travel, the Union Home Ministry has officially notified the creation of a new visa category called “Ayush Visa.” This visa is specifically designed for individuals seeking treatment under Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) and other traditional Indian systems of medicine.

The decision comes as a fulfillment of the proposal put forth by the Ayush Ministry, which emphasized the need for a special visa scheme to cater to those who come to India seeking therapeutic care, wellness programs, and yoga treatments under the Indian systems of medicine.

To facilitate the implementation of this initiative, a dedicated chapter, titled “Chapter 11A – Ayush Visa,” has been incorporated into the visa manual. This new chapter will handle all aspects related to treatment under the Indian systems of medicine. The Ayush Ministry confirmed that appropriate amendments have been made to various chapters of the visa manual, ensuring a seamless and efficient process for applicants.

Union Minister of Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, expressed his satisfaction with the creation of this new visa category, calling it a significant step towards boosting Medical Value Travel in India. This move aligns with India’s vision for the “Heal in India” initiative, a government-led effort to promote the country as a premier destination for medical tourism.

The Ayush Ministry and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare are collaborating on the development of a comprehensive “Heal in India” portal, which will serve as a one-stop platform to promote India’s healthcare services to the world. The portal aims to showcase India’s strengths in traditional and modern medical treatments, highlighting the country’s proficiency in offering high-quality healthcare at competitive costs.

With the introduction of the Ayush Visa category, India is poised to attract a broader spectrum of international visitors seeking holistic and alternative healthcare solutions.
