Japanese Man Dribbling Across India On Record-Breaking Journey

VARANASI (ANI)- In a unique display of endurance and cross-cultural spirit, Japanese national Nozomu Hagihara has reached Varanasi during his 2,000-kilometre journey dribbling a football across India—a bid to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance dribbled.

Hagihara began his journey on March 3 from Kolkata and aims to reach the Japanese Embassy in New Delhi by May 15. The record attempt reflects not only his passion for football but also his deep connection to India, where he has lived for the past four years.

“I’m trying to break the Guinness World Record for the longest football dribble,” Hagihara said. “I came to India with the Japanese government to manage an organic farming project in Bihar. While living in a village, a group of students asked me to teach them football, and that simple request became something bigger.”

What started as casual coaching turned into a mission blending sport, perseverance, and cultural harmony.
