NEW YORK, NY – Queens Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar who is running for the office of New York City Public Advocate is pitching an action-packed vision for the role promising to aggressively pursue legal action against government agencies and corporations she says are failing New Yorkers.

In an appearance on Spectrum News NY1’s Mornings On 1, Rajkumar declared that, if elected, she would turn the largely symbolic post into what she called a “legal powerhouse.”

“In my first 100 days, I’m going to sue federal agencies, city agencies and corporate giants who are violating New Yorkers’ rights,” Rajkumar said during the live interview promising to bring “muscle” back to the office.

Her first legal actions, she said, would focus on getting families out of shelters and holding the MTA accountable for unreliable service.

A Stanford-trained lawyer and former state immigration affairs director, Rajkumar is positioning herself as a hands-on alternative to incumbent Jumaane Williams, whom she criticized as being absent from the role.

Asked about her past ties to Mayor Eric Adams, Rajkumar emphasized her independence and collaborative style. “I have many friends,” she said, “but I’m focused on my own vision.”
