RICHMOND, VA -On November 8, Delegate Kannan Srinivasan announced that he had the endorsement of Congressman-Elect Suhas Subramanyam and Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger for the Democratic nomination to fill Subramanyam’s District 32 State Senate seat.

Recognizing the importance of holding the seat to protect the narrow one-seat Democratic majority in the Senate, local and statewide leaders are rallying behind Srinivasan as the candidate best positioned to secure a victory in this district.

“Kannan Srinivasan is our best candidate to win this State Senate seat, keep Democratic control of the Legislature, and continue to deliver on our Democratic values,” said Congressman-Elect Subramanyam. “I’m supporting Kannan Srinivasan for the Democratic nomination for our State Senate seat because he gives us our best chance to win this special election and keep Democratic control of the Legislature. I’ve worked closely with Kannan and admire his passion to bring people together, solve problems, and get big things done. In the Legislature, he worked to protect reproductive rights, advance gun safety, create jobs, and defend our democracy. Please join me in voting for Kannan for the Democratic nomination so we continue having effective leadership that delivers for Loudoun families.”

Srinivasan, who has lived in Loudoun for 25 years, is the first Indian American immigrant to serve in the House of Delegates, representing District 26. As a delegate, he championed issues such as women’s reproductive rights, voting rights, healthcare, and gun violence prevention.

Meanwhile, in Virginia’s special election races, Puja Khanna and Sreedhar Nagireddi have launched their own campaigns, focusing on issues that are important to their Loudoun County communities.

Khanna, a mental health advocate and business owner, is running for the Dulles District supervisor seat. If elected, she would be the first Asian American on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. Khanna has been a Virginia resident for two decades.

Nagireddi, an IT professional and long-time community volunteer, is running in the Democratic primary for House District 26. With a background in state and local boards, he emphasized the need for effective representation on issues like infrastructure, transportation, education, and clean energy.
