Karisma Kapoor Stays Away From Ex-Husband’s Inheritance Disputes
MUMBAI — Following the death of businessman Sunjay Kapur, Chairman of the Sona Comstar Group, a dispute has emerged over the inheritance of his assets, estimated at over ₹30,000 crore.
At the center of the controversy is Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, who has publicly declared that she is the majority stakeholder in the Sona Group and the sole legal heir to his estate. Rani alleged that certain individuals attempted to exploit her vulnerability after her son’s death, pressuring her into signing documents while she was still grieving.
Karisma Kapoor, Sunjay’s ex-wife and mother of his two children, Samaira and Kiaan, has no connection to the family’s business or estate matters. Sources close to the Kapoor family confirmed, “She is not involved in any inheritance or property-related matters in any way.”
The statement was made after controversy swirled that the actress was trying to get a share of the property. However, the same sources emphasized that Sunjay’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, remain his rightful heirs and will receive their legitimate share of his wealth.
Karisma, who has remained silent amid the ongoing legal tussle, in 2016, she had filed a domestic violence case against both Sunjay and his mother, Rani Kapur.
Sanjay is survived by his wife Priya, who also has a stake in the business empire.
The unfolding inheritance dispute has brought renewed public attention to the late businessman’s personal and family affairs, even as questions around succession and ownership of the sprawling business empire remain unresolved. (IANS)
