ARTESIA, CA – Malabar Gold & Diamonds, the world’s sixth-largest jewelry retailer, has launched its flagship showroom in the US in Southern California. The new showroom, located in the city of Artesia, is Malabar’s fifth and largest in the U.S., marking a significant milestone in the brand’s North American expansion.

The showroom was inaugurated by Congresswoman Michelle Steel, alongside key figures from Malabar, including Chairman M.P. Ahammed, Vice Chairman M Abdul Salam K.P., MD of International Operations Shamlal Ahamed, and Joseph Eapen, the Regional Head of North America. The event also saw the presence of Artesia Mayor Tony Lima and Mayor Pro Tem Ali Sajjad Taj.

M.P. Ahammed expressed excitement about the showroom’s opening, noting that North America remains a key market for the brand’s international growth. He emphasized the company’s commitment to providing an exceptional shopping experience in a “100% responsible and sustainable manner.” This Southern California showroom is part of Malabar’s broader plan to open 20 showrooms globally in October 2024.

The new showroom spans over 6,500 square feet, featuring more than 30,000 jewelry designs from 20 countries, spread across 25 exclusive brands. Customers can find a wide range of bridal, occasional, daily, and office wear jewelry, as well as a unique custom design service where shoppers can create their own pieces with the help of skilled artisans.

Shoppers can also take advantage of limited-time offers, including gold coins with the purchase of diamond and precious gem jewelry, valid until November 3, 2024.

Shamlal Ahamed, MD of International Operations, highlighted California as the perfect location for the expansion, citing its diverse population and the strong appreciation for Indian craftsmanship combined with modern styles. He noted that the success of previous showrooms in New Jersey, Dallas, Chicago, and Naperville has set high expectations for the Los Angeles showroom.

Malabar Gold & Diamonds has announced further expansion plans in the U.S., with upcoming showrooms in Atlanta, San Francisco, Seattle, Austin, Tampa, Virginia, Detroit, Houston, Charlotte, Phoenix, New York, and San Diego. The brand also intends to extend its presence in Canada, particularly in British Columbia and Alberta.

Abdul Salam K.P., Vice Chairman of Malabar Group, expressed excitement about the Los Angeles launch, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. He emphasized that every piece of jewelry is responsibly sourced, ensuring the protection of people, animals, and their habitats. Malabar’s global recognition for ethical practices, such as the Responsible Jewellery House Award at the India Gold Conference, demonstrates the company’s dedication to transparency.

As part of its CSR and ESG efforts, Malabar contributes 5% of its profits to initiatives focused on health, education, women empowerment, hunger eradication, and environmental sustainability. In line with this, the company has announced a USD 1.9 million scholarship program for female students and opened 247 micro-learning centers in India to promote basic education among impoverished communities.

With an annual turnover of $6.2 billion and a retail network spanning over 360 outlets across 13 countries, Malabar Gold & Diamonds continues to expand globally. The brand employs over 21,000 professionals from 26 countries, underscoring its strong position in the jewelry industry.
