MUMBAI – Yash Raj Films’ romantic drama ‘Saiyaara’, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has made a record-breaking debut at the box office, becoming one of 2025’s biggest success stories. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film premiered on July 18 and has quickly rewritten benchmarks for a Hindi film led by debut actors.
‘Saiyaara’ earned ₹25 crore on its opening day in India—the highest ever for a film featuring debutant leads—surpassing the previous record of ₹8.76 crore set by ‘Dhadak’ in 2018. According to YRF, the film attracted nearly 9.75 lakh viewers on its first day.
Advance ticket sales also contributed significantly, with ₹9.39 crore generated through pre-bookings and 3.8 lakh tickets sold before the film’s release. Despite being screened in just 8,000 shows across India—far fewer than most major releases—many theaters reported sold-out shows.
The film also marks a career milestone for director Mohit Suri. Its ₹21 crore net opening surpasses his previous best, ‘Ek Villain’, and reinforces his reputation for delivering box office hits.
Internationally, ‘Saiyaara’ grossed $11.9 million in its opening weekend, ranking ninth on the global box office chart, according to Comscore. In India, its two-day gross reached ₹83 crore, placing it among the top five highest opening weekends of the year.
With strong word-of-mouth and growing interest, ‘Saiyaara’ has not only launched two new stars but also reaffirmed YRF’s ability to turn fresh talent into box office draws.
