NEW YORK, NY -Nita Ambani is set to present a cultural program at New York City’s Lincoln Center from September 12-14. Titled the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) Weekend, the event will feature Indian dance, music, and fashion, with the aim of showcasing Indian arts and culture.
Ambani, who chairs the Reliance Foundation, inaugurated the NMACC in Mumbai in 2023. The development of the center spanned a decade, drawing inspiration from Ambani’s visits to prominent global cultural institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Sydney Opera House. The NMACC currently serves as a venue for a diverse range of performances and visual arts exhibitions, including Broadway musicals.
The NMACC Weekend at Lincoln Center will open with the Grand Swagat, an invite-only welcome gala. This event will feature a fashion show by Manish Malhotra, showcasing designs from Swadesh.- all from the Ambani stable itself. Cuisine for the gala will be provided by chef Vikas Khanna.
The program includes musical performances by Bollywood singers Shankar Mahadevan and Shreya Ghoshal, alongside classical musician Rishab Sharma. Additionally, The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation, a production directed by Feroz Abbas Khan, is scheduled for five performances. This theatrical presentation covers approximately 7,000 years of Indian history, featuring over 100 performers, elaborate sets, and costumes designed by Malhotra.
Damrosch Park, located at Lincoln Square, will be transformed into a bazaar. This area will host daily yoga sessions led by wellness expert Eddie Stern, a panel discussion focused on cricket, and Bollywood dance workshops conducted by choreographer Shiamak Davar.
Tickets for the NMACC Weekend in New York City are anticipated to be available for purchase by the end of June.
