FREEHOLD, NJ – The New Jersey Leadership Program (NJLP) has opened 2024 Summer Fellowship Program applications. The fellowship program, which is entering its eighth year, seeks to introduce New Jersey-based South Asian youth to government and politics.
Applications are due by March 1, 2024, and interested candidates may apply online at www.njlead.org.
The NJLP Summer Fellowship Program is a six-week program in which high school and college students of South Asian background are placed in internships with legislative and other government offices. The Fellowship Program hosts a weekly speakership series with elected officials, senior government staffers, journalists, non-profit leaders, and others.
“With the expanded board and greater statewide interest from our youth, the future for NJLP is bright,” said NJLP President Ishan Shah. “We look forward to welcoming our next class of fellows.”
The Program also welcomed Ayush Nallapally, Romi Pal, and Shea Amin to its Board of Directors. All are alumni of the Fellowship Program and will help the Program reach a broader group of South Asian youth leaders in New Jersey and beyond, a press release said.
The New Jersey Leadership Program is dedicated to promoting South Asian American youth participation and education at the local level of government in the State of New Jersey.
