FOLSOM, CA -Ian Choudri, the chief executive officer of the California High-Speed Rail Authority, was arrested in Folsom on February 4 on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, but prosecutors later declined to file charges in the case, media reports said.

Choudri, 57, was taken into custody at a residence on Borges Court, according to police. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the incident report forwarded by the Folsom Police Department and opted not to pursue formal charges.

Choudri’s attorney, Allen Sawyer, confirmed the outcome to KCRA 3, saying the district attorney’s office “immediately declined to file charges” after receiving the police report. Sawyer said Choudri was never asked to appear in court and described the matter as concluded. In a follow-up message to the broadcaster, Sawyer characterized the incident as a “big nothing burger,” adding that he did not expect the report to be released since the case is not moving forward.

Police have said no additional details about the arrest are being released.

Media reports have described the incident as a family dispute in which Choudri became involved.

Choudri was appointed CEO of the California High-Speed Rail Authority in August 2024.
