COLUMBUS, OH – Governor Mike DeWine of Ohio has signed HB 173 into law, which includes an amendment by former State Senator Niraj Antani designating October as “Hindu Heritage Month” in Ohio. In response, former Republican State Senator Antani issued the following statement:

“I am deeply grateful to Governor DeWine for signing this bill and designating October as Hindu Heritage Month in Ohio. The Governor has long had a strong relationship with the Hindu community across the state, and I am thankful for his leadership. After two years of hard work, I am thrilled to have achieved this milestone for our community,” said Antani.

The signing ceremony was attended by Hindu leaders from across Ohio and the nation, including representatives from the Hindu American Foundation, AIA, VHPA, BAPS, Hindu ACTION, HSS, and Dr. Amol Soin, former President of the State Medical Board of Ohio.

The new law will make October 2025 the first official Hindu Heritage Month in Ohio.
