Ohio Governor’s Race Seems To Come Down To Vivek Ramaswamy Vs Amy Acton
India-West News Desk
CINCINNATI, OH – The 2026 Ohio governor’s race is shaping up as a high-stakes showdown between Democrat Dr. Amy Acton and Republican Vivek Ramaswamy, with the field narrowing after former Congressman Tim Ryan announced he will not run. Ryan’s exit removes the threat of a costly Democratic primary, leaving Acton as the clear frontrunner for her party.
Acton, is addressing affordability, public education, and health care. She has also begun vetting candidates for lieutenant governor, with both her and Ramaswamy expected to make announcements in the coming weeks.
Ramaswamy, meanwhile, has leveraged his billionaire status and political profile to raise $9.7 million, significantly outpacing Acton’s $1.4 million in fundraising. The Republican candidate is also working to attract support from unions that previously backed Ryan, positioning himself as a unifying figure for voters concerned about economic issues.
Acton’s campaign recently gained a boost with endorsements from Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval and the mayors of Ohio’s three other largest cities. In a joint statement, they praised her collaborative leadership and record of public service.
Republican Philip Funderburg, Democrat Jacob Chiara, and independent Tim Grady are the others in the race.
