Ranveer’s ‘Dhurandhar’ Breaks Box Office Records, Actor Gets Reflective
India-West News Desk
MUMBAI-Ranveer Singh has paired a career-defining box office resurgence with a reflective message on patience and destiny, as his latest release ‘Dhurandhar’ continues its record-breaking run across cinemas nationwide. While one section talks about Akshaye Khanna’s dance movement and has made it justifiably viral, it’s the nuanced and controlled acting of Ranveer that has drawn the praise of critics.
Amid the film’s exceptional performance, the actor shared a brief note on Instagram Stories, reflecting on perseverance after a prolonged lull following ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ in 2023 and earlier commercial setbacks, including ‘83’, ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’, and ‘Cirkus’. “Kismat ki ek bohut khoobsurat aadat hai, ki woh waqt aane par badalti hai… Lekin filhal… nazar aur sabr,” Singh wrote, sharing his thoughts on patience and timing.
The message coincides with ‘Dhurandhar’ rewriting box office benchmarks. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Aditya Dhar-directed spy thriller collected Rs 53.70 crore on its second Saturday, marking the highest-ever second Saturday collection in the history of Hindi cinema. In a post on X, Adarsh said the film had overtaken all previous releases for second-Saturday collections and was now competing head-on with the biggest blockbusters of Hindi cinema.
The film’s second-weekend surge saw collections cross Rs 100 crore in just two days, with overall India nett earnings reported at over Rs 350 crore so far. Adarsh added that ‘Dhurandhar’ has amassed Rs 306.40 crore within two weeks, describing its momentum as relentless.
Starring Ranveer Singh alongside Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Sara Arjun, ‘Dhurandhar’ follows the decade-long undercover mission of Indian intelligence operative Hamza, who infiltrates Karachi’s criminal and political underworld to dismantle cross-border terror networks. The film draws inspiration from real-life events, including the 1999 Indian plane hijacking, the 2001 Parliament attack, the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, and covert operations linked to Operation Lyari.
With its sustained theatrical run, ‘Dhurandhar’ is on track to become the third-highest-grossingHindi film and the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. The sequel, ‘Dhurandhar: Part 2 – Revenge’, is scheduled for release in 2026. (With IANS and ANI inputs)
