VANCOUVER, B.C. —RED FM’s recent Radiothon successfully raised over $1.5 million to aid families affected by the catastrophic floods in Punjab. The funds, collected on September 4, 2025, will be funneled through SAF International, a Surrey-based non-profit. The urgent fundraiser comes as over 1,900 villages have been submerged, displacing thousands of residents.

The donations were pledged through RED FM stations in Surrey and Calgary. According to SAF International Founder Shamandeep Singh, the funds will provide hope and support to families facing “unimaginable hardship.” SAF International will implement a three-phase relief strategy: emergency response, rehabilitation, and long-term rebuilding support.

RED FM President Kulwinder Sanghera stated that the South Asian community has “again stepped up… to support those in need.” The station has a history of fundraising for various causes, including the Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation and the Guru Nanak Food Bank, and has previously raised funds for disasters like the Fort McMurray wildfires and earthquakes in Haiti and Nepal.

Since 2007, RED FM has raised more than $21 million for charitable causes, it said in a press release.
