Rohit Sharma Says There Was An Argument With Coach Gambhir In Sydney
India-West News Desk
NEW DELHI- India captain Rohit Sharma has finally addressed his decision to pull out of the crucial Sydney Test in the Border-GavaskarTrophy, explaining that he prioritized the team’s needs over personal performance.
In a conversation on the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast with former Australian captain Michael Clarke, Rohit recalled his discussions with head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar prior to the match.
He said the decision wasn’t simple, with differing views from Gambhir and Agarkar, but ultimately, the goal was to make a choice that would benefit the team. “There was an argument, but the focus was always on putting the team first,” said Rohit.
“As captain, it’s about collective goals. Success isn’t guaranteed, but the team’s welfare always comes first,” he said.
Rohit struggled throughout the series with only 164 runs in 15 innings at an average of 10.83.
