PUNE, (ANI) – There is a wealth of literature on the life and contributions of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, both in Maharashtra and globally. Numerous historians have studied the king’s journey in various languages, recognizing him as the founder of Maratha rule. However, far less attention has been given to his father, Shahajiraje, who played a key role in inspiring Shivaji to establish self-rule.

Pune-based historian Amar Yuvraj Dangat seeks to address this gap. After a decade of research and exploration across Maharashtra and Karnataka, he has written a book titled ‘Randhurandhar Shahajiraje Bhosale,’ which focuses on Shahajiraje’s life and legacy.

“Shahajiraje ignited the pride of Maharashtra and motivated its people during 350 years of Islamic and foreign rule,” Dangat explained. “He was the first leader to raise awareness of Maharashtrian identity. This is why I decided to write about his remarkable personality 10 years ago. I traveled extensively and completed my research at Shahajiraje’s memorial in Hodgire, Karnataka.”

Dangat emphasizes that his book is based on authentic sources, covering Shahajiraje’s rule in Karnataka and his pivotal role in establishing Swarajya in Maharashtra. His thorough research included visiting numerous locations, gathering reliable references, and consulting with hundreds of experts to create a comprehensive portrayal of Shahajiraje’s known and lesser-known missions.
