CHENNAI — Thirteen years after stepping into the music industry, Sid Sriram has emerged as one of its most compelling voices. Known for blending Carnatic classical depth with contemporary expression, the singer says his journey has been “unpredictable but beautiful.”

“When I first started out, it was serendipitous. I didn’t have a career trajectory mapped out. I just stayed present, took what came my way, and let it grow. Looking back, I feel grateful for everything these past 13 years,” he says.

This November, Sriram will embark on his first-ever India tour, a milestone that fans have long awaited. His concerts are expected to highlight both his mastery of classical traditions and the soulful quality that has made him a household name across languages and genres.

While primarily celebrated as a playback singer, Sriram has also tested the waters as a composer. His debut came with Vaanam Kottatum (2020), a Madras Talkies production written by Mani Ratnam and directed by Dhana. “That was a steep learning curve,” he recalls. “To compose for a film, you need to immerse yourself in its world and shape the music with intention, even if it’s not entirely your own. The process, the deadlines, and the chance to interact with Mani sir daily taught me a lot.”

Although he enjoyed the experience, Sriram says his immediate focus remains on creating original music that reflects his personal vision. “I think I’ll return to film composition in the future, maybe five years from now. For now, I want to keep building my own universe of music.”

As he prepares for his India tour, Sriram’s story is not just about a singer’s rise but about an artist constantly evolving—grateful for his past, yet intent on shaping the future on his own terms. (IANS)
