Speaker Johnson Vows Strong Support For India In Fight Against Terrorism
WASHINGTON, D.C. (ANI)– U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson affirmed America’s unwavering support for India in its fight against terrorism, calling India a “very important” partner.
Speaking at a congressional briefing on Capitol Hill on May 5, Johnson emphasized the strength of the U.S.-India relationship, not just in matters of security but also trade. “We have great sympathy for what’s happening over there, and we want to stand with our allies,” he said. “India has to stand against terrorism, and we’ll do everything we can in the U.S. to support those efforts.”
Johnson also expressed optimism about ongoing trade negotiations between the two countries. “No one asked me about tariffs, I’m glad,” he joked, before stressing the significance of the U.S.-India partnership.
He noted that the Trump administration clearly recognizes the threat posed by terrorism and the importance of strengthening ties with India. “If that threat increases, I believe the administration will focus more energy and resources on assisting India,” he added.
