BELLEVUE, WA — T-Mobile has appointed Srini Gopalan, its current Chief Operating Officer, as the company’s next Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1. Gopalan, who will succeed Mike Sievert, brings a career that bridges leadership experience in India, Europe, and the U.S.
An alumnus of Delhi Public School in R.K. Puram and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Gopalan began his career in financial services before rising to senior positions in global telecom. He previously held executive roles at Bharti Airtel in India and Vodafone, where he gained a reputation for combining operational rigor with customer-focused strategies.
Most recently, Gopalan served as CEO of Deutsche Telekom’s Germany business, where he doubled the company’s growth rate, before joining T-Mobile as COO. At T-Mobile, he has led efforts to accelerate the carrier’s digital transformation, spearheading initiatives to make it the most data-driven, AI-enabled, digital-first company in the industry.
“I couldn’t be more excited to announce Srini Gopalan as our next CEO,” said Sievert, who will transition to a newly created role as Vice Chairman. “When I recruited Srini to be our COO, I knew he had the skills, experience and Un-carrier mindset to lead our company into the future.”
Gopalan said he was “honored and grateful” for the opportunity to lead T-Mobile’s next chapter.
The leadership change underscores T-Mobile’s betting on Gopalan’s international experience and technology-driven vision as the company navigates a fiercely competitive U.S. telecom market.
