Superstar Allu Arjun Arrested
HYDERABAD, (ANI) – Telugu superstar Allu Arjun was arrested on December 12 in connection with the death of a woman during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2 in Hyderabad. The incident also left an eight-year-old boy critically injured, casting a shadow over the much-anticipated movie’s release.
Arjun was taken into custody from his residence under heavy security and brought to the Chikkadpally police station. The arrest followed an FIR filed under Sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), naming Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management.
Crowd Chaos Turns Fatal
The tragedy occurred at Sandhya Theatre, where thousands of fans gathered to see the film’s stars. The crowd exceeded the venue’s capacity, creating a stampede-like situation. A 35-year-old woman died from asphyxiation, and her son remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
Police stated that the theatre management and Arjun’s team failed to notify authorities about the actor’s visit, leading to the chaotic scene. The victim’s family lodged a formal complaint, holding those involved accountable for the mishap.
Legal Developments
On December 11, Arjun sought to quash the FIR by filing a plea with the Telangana High Court. Following his arrest, he was taken to Gandhi Hospital for medical tests and is expected to appear before a local court.
