Teen Author Explores Intergenerational Mentorship In ‘Bows and Ties’
India-West News Desk
TUSTIN, CA-As conversations around women’s leadership and community evolve, a new book by a teenage author examines how mentorship and shared experience continue to shape modern sisterhood.
‘Bows and Ties,’ the debut work by 16-year-old Orange County writer Kavya Thakrar, brings together 19 conversations with women across professions, generations and backgrounds. Rather than presenting isolated interviews, the book is structured as a continuous exchange, with each participant’s insight guiding the next discussion, forming what Thakrar describes as a living mentorship circle.
“I wanted to show that sisterhood isn’t just about friendship; it’s about learning from one another, celebrating each other’s growth and creating space for more women to lead with confidence,” Thakrar said.
The book features voices from fields including psychology, law, wellness and spirituality, among them psychologist Dr. Deepika Chopra, astrologer and author Jenn Sinclair, Chinese functional acupuncturist Kacie Hill and attorney Astha Ghai. Their reflections focus on leadership, resilience and the role of honesty in professional and personal growth.
Blending elements of a handbook and an advice column, ‘Bows and Ties’ positions mentorship as a shared process rather than a top-down exchange.
‘Bows and Ties’ is available in paperback and Kindle editions.
