DETROIT, MI – Congressman Shri Thanedar’s reelection campaign has a significant financial advantage, reporting $6.4 million in cash on hand at the close of 2025.

According to his year-end campaign finance filing, the incumbent Democrat plans to utilize these resources to emphasize his legislative record and priorities to voters within Michigan’s 13th Congressional District.

Representing a district that encompasses Detroit and its surrounding communities, Thanedar has centered his platform on national security, immigration reform, and economic equity. He has maintained a stance of sharp opposition toward President Donald Trump and senior administration officials, framing his work as a defense of American democracy.

Thanedar is highlighting his role in introducing seven articles of impeachment against President Trump, as well as initiating impeachment efforts against Secretaries Pete Hegseth and Kristi Noem.

Regarding immigration and law enforcement, the congressman pointed to his legislative efforts to hold federal agencies accountable. He cited his 2025 proposal to end qualified immunity for ICE agents and his subsequent move to introduce legislation to abolish the agency following high-profile killings in Minnesota.

Thanedar’s economic agenda focuses on shifting the federal tax burden toward high earners. He has proposed raising the top tax rate to 70 percent and eliminating the disparity in capital gains taxes.

Beyond legislation, Thanedar cited the performance of his constituent services office, which he says has assisted over 3,800 residents navigating issues with federal agencies. He expressed confidence that his record of service and advocacy will lead to his reelection in 2026.

First elected in 2022 following a career as an entrepreneur, Thanedar frequently draws on his personal history of overcoming poverty to connect with the diverse and economically challenged 13th District, where federal investment and local advocacy remain central campaign issues. (IANS)
