Vir Das Pokes Fun At Aamir Khan’s Creative Control Obsessions
MUMBAI, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is taking a playful dig at his own reputation for intense creative control. His production house has released a light hearted video in which the actor discusses the trailer strategy for his upcoming production ‘Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos.’
In the video, Khan is seen in conversation with the film’s director Vir Das, as the two debate how the trailer should be cut and released. The exchange humorously highlights Khan’s well-known hands-on approach to filmmaking and his obsession with creative details.
The clip follows an earlier video that showed Khan growing aggressive during a discussion with Das. This time, the actor begins by declaring that he has changed. “I have changed completely. I have calmed down completely. I have become peaceful. I am meditating completely. Happy times,” Khan says, before adding that he has a surprise. “Our film is going to be released. The trailer is also coming. I have cut it.”
Das responds that he has also made a trailer for the film. Khan, feigning surprise, asks, “You have made a trailer? Of my film?” Das corrects him, saying it is “our film,” and goes on to argue that a film reflects the director’s vision, making it important that his version of the trailer be used.
Khan appears to agree, at least momentarily. “You are right. Director? Captain of the ship? Whose ship is it? Yours,” he says, before pointedly asking who the producer is. When Das answers that Khan is the producer, the actor follows up by asking who the marketing genius is, drawing the expected reply, “You are, sir.”
The banter escalates into mock disagreement, ending on a comic note when Das mistakenly mentions Khan’s age, prompting the superstar to charge toward him to correct the error.
The video has struck a chord with fans for its self aware humor and Khan’s willingness to parody his own image. (IANS)
