NEW DELHI – On March 26, the U.S. Embassy in India announced the cancellation of around 2,000 visa appointments that were fraudulently made through bot accounts. Emphasizing its zero-tolerance policy, the Embassy revealed that it had identified individuals involved in misusing the scheduling system and had suspended their accounts.
“Consular Team India is canceling approximately 2,000 visa appointments made by bots. We have zero tolerance for agents and fixers who violate our scheduling policies. Effective immediately, we are canceling these appointments and suspending the accounts’ scheduling privileges,” the Embassy posted on X.
The announcement follows a formal complaint filed by the Embassy with Delhi police, urging swift action against individuals allegedly submitting fraudulent documents for U.S. visa applications between May and August 2024.
