911 Tapes Reveal Chilling Moments, Pediatrician Charged With Murder Of Child

MIAMI, FL – A tragic vacation in El Portal has transformed into a high-stakes murder case as prosecutors release chilling 911 audio from an Oklahoma pediatrician now accused of killing her own child.

Dr. Neha Gupta, 37, currently faces second-degree murder charges following the death of her four-year-old daughter, Aria Talathi, in June 2025. While the initial report suggested a devastating accident, investigators now allege that Gupta meticulously staged a drowning to cover up the girl’s true cause of death.

The newly public emergency recordings capture a frantic Gupta claiming she found her daughter at the bottom of the rental home’s pool after being awoken by a noise. Throughout the call, Gupta insisted she was helpless to intervene, telling dispatchers that she did not know how to swim and was alone in the house with the child. Despite repeated pleas from the operator to attempt a rescue, Gupta claimed her efforts to reach the girl were unsuccessful and reported that the child was no longer moving.

The narrative provided to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office -that the girl wandered outside while her mother slept -was quickly dismantled by forensic evidence. According to the arrest affidavit, an autopsy revealed that the child’s lungs and stomach were entirely dry. This critical finding ruled out drowning, while injuries inside the mouth and bruising on the cheeks suggested the child had been smothered before ever entering the water.

This legal battle is further complicated by a reported custody dispute between Gupta and the girl’s father, Dr. Saurabh Talathi. The father informed authorities that he was completely unaware his daughter had been taken out of Oklahoma.

In the wake of the allegations, the University of Oklahoma terminated Gupta’s employment and removed her from patient care.

Currently held without bond, Gupta was extradited from Oklahoma to Florida to stand trial for a crime authorities say was a calculated act of violence disguised as a poolside tragedy.
