NEW YORK, NY – In recognition of his significant contributions to the arts, Kailash Kher was awarded a Proclamation from the New York State Assembly, presented by Democratic Assemblyman David Ira Weprin. The honor acknowledges Kher as an esteemed citizen of New York and celebrates his efforts to promote Indian folk music across the United States.

Kher has successfully bridged the gap between traditional folk and contemporary sounds, making Indian music resonate internationally. Expressing his gratitude, Kher stated, “I am deeply humbled and grateful to the New York State Assembly and Mr. David Weprin for this recognition. It’s a proud moment for me and for the entire Kailasa family. Indian folk music is the heartbeat of our culture, and to see it celebrated in such a grand way in the United States is truly inspiring.”

The proclamation was awarded during the ongoing ‘Kailasa USA Tour 2024,’ also known as the ‘Bharat Utsav Tour,’ which has captivated fans across America. This tour celebrates the essence of Indian culture, featuring Kailasa’s greatest hits. The Proclamation from the New York State Assembly further amplifies the recognition Kher received when he was honored with the Padma Shri.
