Spiced Chai Horchata
A refreshing twist on a classic, this Spiced Chai Horchata is bursting with flavor.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Basmati rice
- 2 tbsp raw almonds
- 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3/4 tsp cardamom seeds
- 2 whole cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 3 tbsp dried rose petals (optional)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar, or to taste
- 4 cups cold water
Preparation
- Into a blender, add the Basmati rice, almonds, ground cinnamon, cardamom seeds, cloves, nutmeg, ground ginger, dried rose petals, and sugar.
- Add 2 cups of cold water and blend for 40 seconds.
- Let this mixture sit in the fridge overnight or for at least 4 hours at room temperature.
- When ready to serve, add the remaining 2 cups of cold water and stir well.
- Strain the horchata through several layers of cheesecloth or a clean tea towel.
- Pour the horchata into a pitcher and add ice to cool. Enjoy!
