Southern Icons Meet: Haasan Shares Rajya Sabha News With Rajinikanth
MUMBAI (IANS)- Acclaimed actor Kamal Haasan paid a visit to superstar Rajinikanth ahead of his oath-taking ceremony as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha.
Haasan shared a series of photos from the meeting. The pictures show the actor presenting his official Rajya Sabha membership order to Rajinikanth. Haasan also presented Rajinikanth with a bouquet, and the two Southern stalwarts shared a warm embrace.
Posting the photos, Haasan wrote, “I shared the beginning of this new journey with my friend @rajinikanth. I feel elated.”
Rajinikanth also shared a glimpse of the meeting, congratulating Haasan on his latest achievement. “My dear friend @ikamalhaasan, who will be taking office as a member of the Rajya Sabha, heartfelt congratulations to him,” he wrote.
These images of the two icons have since gone viral on social media.
Haasan, a renowned actor, is also the founder of the political party, Makkal Needhi Maiyam. He was among the six candidates from Tamil Nadu who were elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha. The DMK had nominated three candidates and allocated a seat to Haasan, in accordance with a prior agreement between the two parties.
Haasan is scheduled to take oath as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha on July 25.
Regarding their professional commitments, Kamal Haasan last appeared on screen in Mani Ratnam’s “Thug Life,” a gangster drama that premiered on June 5. He is next slated to appear in S Shankar’s “Indian 3” and also has a film lined up with action choreographers Anbariv.
Rajinikanth will next be seen leading Lokesh Kanagaraj’s “Coolie,” which is set for a theatrical release on August 14.
